Phantom liftgate closings

On two recent occasions the liftgate on my 2021 Edge Platinum closed without being asked to. On both occasions people got hit on the tops of their heads. I am the original owner and this has never happened previously. I also noticed that the liftgate doesn't open like it used to when I move my foot under car. What on earth could cause this phantom closing?
