2016 Focus SE Ecoboost

I have just acquired a 2016 SE Ecoboost with 26,400 miles on it. And have a question about the select shift. The shift lever clicks and locks on P R N D but doesn't lock on the S, sport mode. Is this normal? This car replaces an 1994 F150 and is the first car from this century I have had for a daily driver. So I still have a lot to learn. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
